In today's computer world, there are a lot of users who like to use the keyboard to do just about anything on the computer. After all, there are keyboard shortcuts that allow a user to get things done fast – sometimes faster than using the mouse. But the simple truth of the matter is that the mouse is the most used peripheral. Not everyone knows what keyboard shortcut to use to refresh the browser window, for example, but everyone knows how to click the refresh icon.

I may not be much of a mouse fan, but I appreciate the merits of an application like gMote. What can this application do for you? To put it bluntly, this application will enhance the functionality your mouse provides. This application allows you to set up mouse gestures to control your PC.

Take the refresh browser window example I mentioned above. By using the keyboard, you need only press F5 or Ctrl + F5 to override the cache. By using the mouse alone, you need to click the “Reload current page” button which in Firefox is somewhere in the upper left hand corner of the window. By using the mouse and gMote, you don’t need to go looking for an icon. You need only press a hotkey combination, then draw a circle using the mouse and the browser window will refresh itself. You have to press a hotkey combination so that gMote knows you want to use its functionality – otherwise, normal mouse gestures would be confused with preset mouse gestures.

That is just an example. With gMote, you can assign mouse gestures to a lot of frequently performed tasks – like launching a specific application, accessing a specific website, or controlling your media player.

The program doesn't need to be installed and it's enough to click on the downloaded executable to get the application running. After launching it, the user will need to configure the applications that will use mouse gestures. This is a simple task, as the program's interface is intuitive and so is its functionality.

Pros

It allows you to assign mouse gestures to frequently performed tasks. Besides that, the interface is highly intuitive. Furthermore, the program doesn't need installing.

Cons

Some users might be disturbed by the fact that the program automatically generates configuration files in the location of the executable, when it is run. gMote allows you to easily control various tasks and applications using mouse gestures, thus saving a lot of time.
